It’s no surprise that movement is deeply ingrained in our lives.

All mobile animals require complex metabolic pathways to move—to carry their energy with them as they travel about the world.

Plants don’t move much and therefore have different metabolic systems to meet their energy needs. And while there are downsides to being a plant, at least they aren’t at risk for chronic metabolic disease. So they have that going for them.

Think about your own relationship with movement. Is there some aspect of exercise or any form of activity that resonates with your core motivation? If the answer is “yes,” then consider making movement a focus in your life.

Exercise, travel, artistic expression, exploring nature or all the above—movement can touch every human activity.
