There is an old saying that you can’t improve what you can’t measure.

We agree with this sentiment. Measuring can be powerful. However, it’s important to be thoughtful about what you track.

You don’t want to fall into the trap of over-measuring and never acting. 

It’s also easy to get stuck tracking data that isn’t actionable. 

So, before we get into the specifics of what to measure, let’s spend some time on why you would measure something in the first place (just as an FYI, throughout this lesson we’re going to use the terms measuring and tracking interchangeably).
