Each morning this week, take a few minutes and jot down the answers to the following questions in an electronic or paper journal. It’s important that you write it down—don’t try to keep it in your head.

  1. What time did you turn out the lights to go to sleep?
  2. What time did you wake up in the morning?
  3. How many total hours did you sleep?
  4. How many times did you wake up in the night?
  5. Rate the quality of your sleep on a scale of 1 to 5 (1 is very poor, 5 is excellent).
  6. Do you feel that you got enough sleep?

After a few days of writing things down, you will notice that certain patterns arise. Pay attention to these patterns; they will lead to a greater understanding of where you should focus.
