Some people find that their sleep is unaffected by day-to-day stress. If that is you, then great!

However, if stress does affect your sleep, then you will want to plan accordingly.

You don’t need to overthink this. On the morning of a defense day, consider what the end of your day will look like.

Your defensive plan can be as simple as establishing the time you’re going to bed or briefly rehearsing your bedtime routine.

This is the precommitment approach that we mentioned in past lessons. Commit to a plan ahead of time rather than trying to decide in the moment when you have less psychological reserves.
