You can apply the same defense principles to neutral or high-score days, meaning that it’s helpful to have a plan for an offense or a neutral day before you get up in the morning.

On a neutral day, most people find that it’s easiest to simply acknowledge their readiness score and move on. Don’t overthink it.

But for those high DRS days have a plan to get out there and push it a bit!

A high energy plan may include slotting in a more intense workout. Maybe it’s spending time on some new, healthy meals that you can add to the rotation. It could be finishing up a chore that needs doing, leaning into a hobby, or connecting with friends and family.

Plan for those high-energy days understanding that you’ll have more executive function available. These are the days to be curious—to explore.

And if you are feeling particularly strong, consider giving some of your energy to a friend, colleague, or family member who needs it. Is there someone you can reach out to?
