Before we go, we’d like to mention the possible downsides of CGM testing. 

There will be some people who are at risk for worsening anxiety from seeing their blood sugar rise. There are also people who may become overly obsessive about their CGM readings.

Yes, continuous glucose monitors aren’t for everyone. It’s the same with step counters and sleep trackers. So, know thyself.  

You should also consider the fact that blood sugar measurement doesn’t tell the complete story. A CGM can provide insights into diet and metabolic function, but there are aspects to diet that it can’t measure.  

For example, eating a stick of butter may not move your blood sugar much, but we wouldn’t recommend it. 

That said, CGM is a powerful tool for both insight and accountability. Think about giving it a try.
