The Diet Industry teaches us to use weight loss for positive reinforcement. But losing weight is a slow process and is not always reflective of healthy lifestyle change.
It’s easy to get frustrated if the weight isn’t coming off quickly. Plus, the first phase of weight loss is primarily from fluid loss rather than a change in body composition.
So, while monitoring your weight is fine, you don’t want weight loss to be your sole source of positive reinforcement and motivation.
What else can you use? What other metric will give you that positive feedback and reinforcement that keeps your motivation primed?
Drum roll, please.
Strength training.
Strength training leads to physical and psychological gains that will help reinforce your behavior faster than with Zone 2 training, or even with adopting a whole-food diet.
