You may remember our discussion on mitochondria in the Zone 2 lesson. While you’ll never actually see these little guys, your metabolic health is in their tiny, wee hands.

And as you now know, the way to improve metabolic flexibility is by bolstering your mitochondria via Zone 2 training.

So, you might ask if training in Zone 2 will increase your strength as well?

The answer is, not so much. 

We’re not going to get deep into the science here, more to make the point that strength and aerobic fitness are based on different systems.

You need to work both either independently or together to get optimum benefits for each. Your body is designed to adapt to the stress that it faces.
